LEARN A COURSE

in 30 hours

Learn any course you want before you take it in school.

Public and Private school courses are designed to be 110 hours in length. However, each course’s time allotment is broken down into lesson content, laboratories, quizzes, tests and work periods. We have found that the entirety of a course’s content can be taught effectively in only 30 hours.

Learn-A-Course (LAC) Program Breakdown Hours
Content Teaching 30 Hours
Quizzes, Tests and Final Exam* 11.5 Hours
Quizzes, Tests and Final Exam* 41.5 Hours

*Our quizzes, tests and exams are written by YRDSB/YCDSB school teachers.

Our Learn-A-Course preparation program consists of 41.5 total hours. Each course includes 5 to 9 units, with each unit offering 3 to 8 hours of lesson content, depending on complexity, totaling 30 hours of instruction per semester. Every unit includes quizzes and ends with a unit test, while the course concludes with a comprehensive final exam.

For MYP and DP International Baccalaureate (IB) and Advanced Placement (AP) courses, please contact us for more information, as these may require slightly more than 30 hours to fully cover the curriculum.

Get a head start and learn any course you want before it’s covered in school.

While public and private school courses are designed to span 110 hours, that time includes lessons, labs, quizzes, tests, and work periods. In our experience, the complete course content can be taught effectively in just 30 hours.

As we don’t provide an official OSSD credit for these courses, your school won’t know you’ve taken them.

Why the Learn-A-Course Program?

1.
Master the Material

For students struggling with a subject they’ll need to take next year, gaining a prior understanding of the material can boost confidence, (i) significantly improve grades, and (ii) build cognitive familiarity with the content.

2.
Ease the Transition into the Next Grade

The early weeks of the first semester can be challenging as students adjust to the demands of a rigorous course load. The Learn-A-Course program mirrors the structure of a typical high school course, incorporating both learning and assessments. This setup keeps students mentally engaged, helping to reduce setbacks during the transition period.

3.
Competitive Advantage

Our Learn-A-Course program gives students a academic advantage without universities recognizing it as a previously completed course, as it does not provide Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) credit.
