Introduction
Maple High School, established in September 2001 to meet the needs of the growing Maple community, currently boasts a student population exceeding 1500, supported by a dedicated staff comprising over 100 teachers, child & youth workers, educational assistants, administrators, secretarial support workers, and caretakers. The school offers a range of excellent facilities, including a Library & Resource Centre, Music Rooms, Outdoor fields, an Outdoor track, Cafeteria, Construction Lab, Design Technology Lab, Communications Technology Lab, Transportation Technology Lab, Hairstyling & Aesthetics Lab, Computer labs, Cooking & Sewing Labs, Gymnasiums, Weight Room, Drama Room, and Science Labs.
The school’s mission is to foster a caring community that promotes personal growth, academic excellence, and global-mindedness. It aims to nurture critically thinking citizens with a strong intercultural understanding, instilling respect for themselves, others, and the world in which we live. Notable alumni from Maple High School include ice hockey player Adam Mascherin.
Academics
Maple High School follows an Early Start schedule and operates on a modified version of the Regular Secondary School Calendar. The school boasts a variety of academic program to support students including the Gifted Program, the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB) Program and the Specialist High Skills Majors (SHSM) program in Arts & Culture, Business, Health & Wellness, and Non-profit. It also features quadmester programs and offers Dual Credit (DC) through which they can take college or apprenticeship courses that count towards their Ontario Secondary School Diploma and a postsecondary certificate, diploma, degree or a Certificate of Apprenticeship.
