St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Elementary School (St. Katharine Drexel CES) & St. Katharine Drexel Catholic High School (YCDSB) – Whitchurch-Stouffville, Ontario) located at Ninth Line north of Stouffville Road in Whitchurch-Stouffville, Ontario, is a distinguished educational institution administered by the York Catholic District School Board. The school is named after Saint Katharine Drexel, the second American-born saint to be canonized by the Catholic Church. She was an heiress who became a religious sister and a brilliant educator.
History of St. Katharine Drexel CES & CHS
St. Katharine Drexel CES & Catholic High School first opened its doors in September 2023. The school is part of the York Catholic District School Board. The school was built at Ninth Line north of Stouffville Road and was expected to open in September 2023. The school’s opening was delayed due to unforeseen delays with respect to final approvals. The construction of the school started in July 2021.
The facility consists of an elementary school, secondary school, and a child care center to serve the residents of the Stouffville community. The elementary wing runs east/west along the north side and the secondary wing runs north/south along the west side. The facility is approximately 153,085 square feet and sits on a 15.19-acre property.
School Features and Uniforms
St. Katharine Drexel CES & Catholic High School offers a French immersion program for students in grades 7 to 12. The school has been constructed to cater to the educational needs of the Stouffville community and has been designed to foster a nurturing atmosphere that promotes the growth and learning of students.
It is mandatory for all students of St. Katharine Drexel CHS to wear the complete school uniform, which includes a golf shirt and pants (or dress shorts) on a daily basis. The school will schedule specific “Spirit Days” when students are allowed to dress in school spirit wear or in the school’s colors. In addition, casual dress days, known as “Civvies Days”, will be organized each month.
