Overview of The York School
The York School is a private International Baccalaureate (IB) World School that offers an academic program for students from Junior Kindergarten (JK) to Grade 12. History of The York School
The York School’s history began in 1965 when Barbara Goodwin-Zeibots founded it as a nursery school. Over time, it expanded, adding a toddler program and elementary grades. By 1985, the school graduated its first Grade 8 class, and in 1995, the Senior School was introduced. The school acquired its main campus at 1320 Yonge Street in the late 1990s, and later opened a second campus for Junior School students in 2010. The York School celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2015, marking a milestone of growth and renovation.
Barbara Goodwin-Zeibots led the school until her retirement in 2006, succeeded by Ezio Crescenzi, and later, Conor Jones. After Jones stepped down in 2019, Struan Robertson was appointed Head of School. Recently, Kathryn Barnes succeeded David Hamilton as the Senior School Principal, continuing the tradition of leadership.

Middle School

The MYP covers nine core subjects—English, Humanities, Science, Math, French, Physical Education, Music, Visual Arts, and Technology. The program emphasizes essential skills such as organization, collaboration, and problem-solving, with ongoing assessments to help students track their progress. By the end of Middle School, students are well-prepared, both academically and personally, for the next stage of their education.
Senior School

The York School Tuition
For the 2024-2025 academic year, The York School’s tuition is set at $40,350 for all students from JK to Grade 12. Families are required to pay a non-refundable $5,000 installment to secure a place for their child, with the remaining balance due in two installments or via monthly payments. New students also pay a one-time registration fee of $10,000.
For families in need of financial support, The York School offers bursaries based on need for students in Grades 9-11, evaluated through an external service, Apple Financial Services.
