Introduction
Established in 1958, Woodbridge College is dedicated to upholding a standard of excellence reflected in its motto, “Excellence through commitment. “The school values academic excellence, diversity, wellness, a familial atmosphere of respect and caring, and global awareness. Over the years, the institution has undergone significant developments, including the expansion of the gymnasium in the late ’70s and an extensive renovation from 2001-2003. This renovation brought enhancements to the main office, cafeteria, library, and the addition of 14 classrooms. A distinctive feature of Woodbridge College is its uniform policy, consisting of white or navy blue polo shirts, grey pants, and plain black shoes.
Woodbridge College also offers a plethora of facilities, including art and film labs, computer labs, a cross-curricular computer lab, design and technology spaces, a gymnasium, music rooms, and more. Woodbridge College stands as a beacon of educational excellence in York Region, fostering a sense of unity and community spirit.
Highlights
Woodbridge College is the proud home of Team 6513: Wyvern Robotics, actively involved in the FIRST Robotics Competition. Their involvement commenced with the 2017 game, FIRST Steamworks. Noteworthy is their ranking at the 2017 FRC Ontario District Championship Event, where Wyvern Robotics achieved the 45th position out of a total of 60 participating teams at the Hershey Centre from April 12 to April 15. The school also involves 1:1 computing, through which students can bring their own Chrombooks or computers to school and engage in a blended learning model. Teachers also organize several annual excursions, such as exploring the physics of roller coasters at Canada’s Wonderland and experiencing live performances of Shakespeare’s plays, among other activities.
Academics
Woodbridge College offers a variety of specialized academic programs for its students such as the French Immersion program, Personalize Alternative Education, and the Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) program in Arts and Culture, Business, and Health and Wellness.
It also offers Advanced Placement (AP) courses in Biology, Physics, and Economics.
